"The film is about affection, allegiance and giving. Values that Rob cherished deeply. That is part of the many reasons he was the best person to direct it," Elwes continued.
He additionally honored Michele Reiner, noting: "To say that they were a great team would be an understatement. My heart still hurts every time I think of you." He concluded with a line from *The Princess Bride*: "Indeed, death cannot stop true love but existence is agony without you."
Martin Scorsese Reflects on a Friend and Collaborator
